Project Analysis and Discussion

The South East LHIN is constantly working with all of our health service providers to look at ways we can help improve health care services across our region. This includes hospital services. As part of every planning process the LHIN conducts analysis, sometimes in the form of reports or studies which can help provide background data and potential discussion points. The below report was commissioned as part of the South East LHIN, South East Community Care Access Centre, and Hospital Executive Forum (SECHEF) to stimulate discussion on local health care planning. It is important to understand that this report does not suggest definitive options for the regional siting of services and patient care, but rather it provides a ‘straw-dog’ and options based on desirable characteristics, best practices, and a vision for Health Care Tomorrow. While this report in its entirety is not being considered by any board – either hospital or LHIN, currently as part of the Health Care Tomorrow vision working group, members are discussing options related to the analysis provided for both fracture management and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). In the coming months, they will also assess aspects of Access to MRI and Hip and Knee Surgery.

The South East LHIN will continue to work with our communities and local health care stakeholders to help ensure patients continue to have access to the care they need across their communities, and this will always be done in an open and transparent manner.
